Abraham (Hebrew: אַבְרָהָם, Avraham), whose birth name was Abram (אברם), is the eponymous patriarch of the Abrahamic religions, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.
According to the Torah, Abraham is the forefather of many peoples, including the Ishmaelites, Israelites, Edomites, and Midianites.
His story is told in Genesis. The son of an idol maker, he rejected his father's profession and polytheism.
He had eight sons: Ishmael with Hagar, Isaac with Sarah, and Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak, and Shuah with Keturah.
