Ahasuerus is a Biblical figure who appears in the Book of Esther. Ahasuerus lived in the city Shushan and was the king of 127 countries. He had many parties, which often lasted for weeks. One day he invited Queen Vashti to come to his party but she did not want to come so he banished her from the palace.

Sometime later Ahasuerus sent for all the beautiful maidens in the land of Shushan to choosa a new wife. He chose Esther, the niece of a Jew named Mordecai.
