Jeremiah was a descendant of Benjamin, from a priestly family. He was a prophet who lived during one of the hardest times for the Jewish people. G-d touched Jeremiah’s lips and received the power of prophecies. Jeremiah was scared at first. He cried to G-d “I am just a boy.” Jeremiah quickly lost his fear and gave the prophecies to his people and to other nations regardless of the kings and their men. He told B’nai Yisrael to do Tishuva. He witnessed the fall of the Beit Hamikdash after his warnings and prophecies.

We read the Book of Jeremiah on Tisha B'Av, as Haftorah Devarim.
