Alternative spellings: Vayetzei, VaYetze, ויצא

This portion includes the famous story of Jacob's Ladder. It also tells of Jacob's meeting with Rachel, his work for Laban, marriages, his children and return with his family to Beersheba.

Vayetze means "and he left". The portion begins with Jacob setting off for Haran.
